The outbreak of the Summit war began when Ace was captured, and ended when he died in battle. It can be said that Ace’s death is a scar in the hearts of many One Piece fans. In this war, Vice Admiral Garp, as Ace’s grandfather, did not come to rescue him, but why did he want to kill Akainu for revenge after Ace was killed by Akainu? What unspeakable difficulties did he have in this?

Garp has always been hailed as a “hero” by the navy. He has dedicated his life to the navy and has made countless military exploits. It can be said that he is very powerful. He could definitely do it if he wanted to save Ace during the War.

Ace walked onto the execution platform, and Garp was in agony when he witnessed all this. Seeing that the child he raised was about to die, his face no longer had the smile of the past, and his expression was serious when he was in front of Sengoku. It could be seen that he was dissatisfied with Ace’s execution.

At the same time, Sengoku has been reminding him to pay attention to his position, Garp said, “I will make it clear myself.” In his heart, he has always regarded Ace as his own relative, and he does not want to see Ace go to this point, but as a navy, he can only watch Ace walk to the execution platform, but there is nothing he can do.

The scene where Garp cried and told Ace on the execution platform, “Although bad guys don’t deserve sympathy, family members are different” can’t help but make people sad. At this time, Garp still hoped that Ace could survive. With the arrival of Luffy, Garp seemed to see hope, and Ace might be successfully rescued.

Luffy’s arrival ignited Essen’s hope. Garp must be happy at this moment. Even though he talks about his duty as a navy, he must be hoping that Ace will be rescued. We can see this when Luffy was about to board the execution platform, and Garp tried to stop him but was knocked down by Luffy’s punch.

As a naval legend, Garp’s strength is unfathomable, and he is a very dedicated naval admiral. Facing Luffy as a pirate, he should have stopped him, but he was easily defeated by Luffy. He was obviously moved by his compassion. In his heart, he still hoped that Luffy could rescue Ace.

In the end, Luffy lived up to expectations and rescued Ace, and everyone was relieved to see this. Not only were everyone who came to the rescue happy that Ace was rescued, there must also be Garp who was standing behind and watching everything.

But in the end, Ace did not escape the punishment of fate, and was shot through the body by Admiral Akainu during the run and died. It was originally thought that Ace had escaped, but this flame of hope was ruthlessly extinguished by Akainu(pun intended). All the hard work he had been doing was in vain at this moment. Ace’s death makes people feel regretful.

Why Garp didn’t save Ace but wanted revenge after he was killed by Akainu?

Because Garp must stick to his duties as a navy, there is nothing he can do when he sees Ace being executed. With the arrival of Luffy, Ace was rescued. This was something Garp wanted to do but couldn’t do. Luffy helped him do it. Garp must have been happy that Ace was finally rescued, but this happiness was quickly destroyed by Akainu.

He originally had hope, then his hope came true, but was destroyed before he could react. Garp could no longer hold back the anger in his heart and prepared to kill Akainu for revenge.

Although Garp is an excellent naval officer, he sticks to his position, even if his favorite relative is about to die in front of him. But he is also a person of flesh and blood, and he still has selfish motives when it comes to his children. As he said, “The bad guys don’t deserve sympathy, but it’s different when it comes to family members.”
